The day that I returned from Istanbul was the same day that my dad and brother flew in to visit from California. I was lucky enough to have them for a whole week, and we managed to get up to all sorts of shenanigans during that time. I showed them around Tübingen on their first full day, which was really fun, and the next day we took a day trip to Stuttgart. We spent three full days in Munich, Bavaria, where we took a bike tour of the city, went on a day trip to some of Mad King Ludwig II’s castles, and, of course, spent a day at the Oktoberfest.
It was great to have family visit, and I am very fortunate that they were able to make the 14 hour journey here. Having people from back home, especially family, visit me here in Germany was incredibly surreal, as these two worlds are so different, and I only see people occasionally via Skype or Snapchat. We had a great time together, and they really enjoyed Germany (especially the beer).
